MSH3

mutS homolog 3 (E. coli)

On chromosome: 5q11-q12
Known also as: DUP; MRP1; MGC163306; MGC163308;

NCBI Gene ID: 4437
NCBI Ensembl Id: ENSG00000113318
MIM Id: (from NCBI OMIM database) 600887
Species: Homo sapiens

The protein encoded by this gene forms a heterodimer with MSH2 to form MutS beta, part of the post-replicative DNA mismatch repair system. MutS beta initiates mismatch repair by binding to a mismatch and then forming a complex with MutL alpha heterodimer. Defects in this gene are a cause of susceptibility to endometrial cancer.
