strand break with 3'OH

(single strand break between 5'P and 3'OH)

This single strand break occurs when the bond between the phosphorus atom and the 3'OH is broken. The phosphate group remains on the 3' side of the broken strand, while the 5' part of the strand has an alcoholic OH group.
