Brca2

Protein FULL name:

breast cancer type 2 susceptibility protein homolog [Mus musculus].

Brca2 (Mus musculus) is product of expression of Brca2 gene.

FUNCTION: Involved in double-strand break repair and/or homologous recombination. May participate in S phase checkpoint activation.

SUBUNIT: Interacts with RAD51 and DSS1. Interacts with ubiquitinated FANCD2. Interacts with PALB2, enables the recombinational repair and checkpoints functions. Interacts with WDR16 (By similarity).

INTERACTION: P60896:SHFM1 (xeno); NbExp=1; IntAct=EBI-1034100, EBI-79819;

TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Widely expressed. Highest expression in cerebellum, testis, ileum, appendix, epididymis, ovary and mammary gland. No expression in lung.

DEVELOPMENTAL STAGE: In the mammary gland, expression increases dramatically during pregnancy.

PTM: Phosphorylated upon DNA damage, probably by ATM or ATR (By similarity).

SIMILARITY: Contains 7 BRCA2 repeats.

NCBI GenPept GI number(s): 124487409
