RecG

Protein FULL name:

recG [Escherichia coli].

RecG (Escherichia coli strain K-12 substr. MG1655) is product of expression of recG gene.

RecG is involved in:

HRR in Escherichia coli strain K-12 substr. MG1655

FUNCTION: Critical role in recombination and DNA repair. Help process Holliday junction intermediates to mature products by catalyzing branch migration. Has a DNA unwinding activity characteristic of a DNA helicase with a 3' to 5' polarity. recG unwind branched duplex DNA (Y-DNA). Has a role in constitutive stable DNA replication (csdR) and R-loop formation.

CATALYTIC ACTIVITY: ATP + H(2)O = ADP + phosphate.

INTERACTION: P06959:aceF; NbExp=1; IntAct=EBI-556882, EBI-542707;

SIMILARITY: Belongs to the helicase family. RecG subfamily.

SIMILARITY: Contains 1 helicase ATP-binding domain.

SIMILARITY: Contains 1 helicase C-terminal domain.

NCBI GenPept GI number(s): 42669
Species: Escherichia coli
