Ung1p

Ung1p (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) is product of expression of UNG1 gene.

Ung1p is involved in:

BER in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Keywords:

FUNCTION: Excises uracil residues from the DNA which can arise as a result of misincorporation of dUMP residues by DNA polymerase or due to deamination of cytosine.

CATALYTIC ACTIVITY: Hydrolyzes single-stranded DNA or mismatched double-stranded DNA and polynucleotides, releasing free uracil.

SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Nucleus. Mitochondrion.

MISCELLANEOUS: Present with 4820 molecules/cell in log phase SD medium.

SIMILARITY: Belongs to the uracil-DNA glycosylase family.

NCBI GenPept GI number(s): 6323620
Species: Saccharomyces cerevisiae
