Mismatch in heteroduplex DNA with nick 5' to mismatch bound by MutSalpha-MutLalpha complex

After recognizing the error in DNA, ATP-bound MutS physically interacts with the MutL protein, which then activates a chain of events leading to the repair of the error. It is not yet fully resolved whether Muts interacts with MutL on the mismatch or after leaving the mismatch.
