Mfd

Protein FULL name:

transcription-repair coupling factor [Escherichia coli str. K-12 substr. MG1655].

Mfd (Escherichia coli strain K-12 substr. MG1655) is product of expression of mfd gene.

Mfd is involved in:

NER in Escherichia coli strain K-12 substr. MG1655

Keywords:

FUNCTION: Necessary for strand-specific repair. A lesion in the template strand blocks the RNA polymerase complex (RNAP). The RNAP-DNA-RNA complex is specifically recognized by TRCF which releases RNAP and the truncated transcript; the TCRF may replace RNAP at the lesion site and then recruit the uvrA/B/C repair system.

INTERACTION: P0A8V2:rpoB; NbExp=2; IntAct=EBI-554211, EBI-544996;

SIMILARITY: In the N-terminal section; belongs to the uvrB family.

SIMILARITY: In the C-terminal section; belongs to the helicase family. RecG subfamily.

SIMILARITY: Contains 1 helicase ATP-binding domain.

SIMILARITY: Contains 1 helicase C-terminal domain.

NCBI GenPept GI number(s): 1787357
Species: Escherichia coli
