Rad2p

Rad2p (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) is product of expression of RAD2 gene.

Rad2p is involved in:

NER in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

FUNCTION: Single-stranded DNA endonuclease involved in excision repair of DNA damaged with UV light, bulky adducts, or cross- linking agents. Essential for the incision step of excision- repair.

COFACTOR: Binds 2 magnesium ions per subunit. They probably participate in the reaction catalyzed by the enzyme. May bind an additional third magnesium ion after substrate binding (By similarity).

INTERACTION: Q08215:PEX15; NbExp=1; IntAct=EBI-14757, EBI-31849;

SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Nucleus.

MISCELLANEOUS: Present with 846 molecules/cell in log phase SD medium.

SIMILARITY: Belongs to the XPG/RAD2 endonuclease family. XPG subfamily.

NCBI GenPept GI number(s): 6321697
Species: Saccharomyces cerevisiae
